PRF INJECTIONS
Platelet Rich Fibrin
ABOUT PLATELET RICH FIBRIN INJECTIONS
Platelet rich fibrin (PRF) is a concentrate of platelets and fibrin that is prepared from a small sample of your blood. Platelets are blood cells that play a crucial role in healing by releasing growth factors and other proteins that aid in tissue repair. Fibrin is a protein that helps form blood clots and supports the formation of new tissue. PRF can be delivered in a liquid or gel form. The liquid form is used topically after microneedling procedures or can be injected into the undereye area to help decrease dark circles and skin crepiness. It also can be injected into deeper acne scars as well as fine lines to help stimulate collagen production
WHAT IT IS
PRF injections will help stimulate collagen production. This helps to thicken the skin which decreases fine lines and wrinkles. PRF can also help improve overall texture and elasticity of the skin.
HOW IT WORKS
Preparation: Before the treatment, your healthcare provider will explain the procedure and ensure you understand what to expect. You will have a small amount of blood drawn, similar to a routine blood test.
Blood Processing: Your blood sample will be placed in a centrifuge, which separates the blood components and concentrates the platelets and fibrin into the PRF liquid.
Application: Once the PRF liquid is prepared, it will be applied to the targeted area.
Post-Treatment Care: After the PRF injection, you will given specific aftercare instructions, such as how to care for the treated area, what activities to avoid, and any medications you might need to take. There may be some swelling or discomfort in the treated area, but this is usually temporary.
Recovery: The recovery process varies depending on the procedure and the area treated. Generally, PRF helps to speed up the healing process, so you should notice improvements in tissue repair over time. Your healthcare provider will monitor your progress and provide follow-up care as needed.
